We had a wonderful family getaway as hubby managed to secure a 2-week leave for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
We went back to his hometown for slightly over a week and went on a holiday for 3 days before heading back to KL.
Hubby had gone back to work on Tuesday.
Today, our 3-yo daughter suddenly cried for no reason. She had actually woken up at 6am when she heard her Daddy wake up to hit the showers and get ready for work.
After sending Daddy off at the door, she climbed onto the bed and requested for me to call Daddy.
I dialled hubby on Facetime so we spoke on the phone throughout his drive to the office. She fell asleep a little while after.
Once she woke up and had her warm bath with pancakes & maple syrup and slices of cheese for breakfast, she sat down quietly in front of the TV.
Not long after, I suddenly heard her sniffing and when I looked at her, she was already crying. No, not the toddler-tantrum sort of crying but genuinely feeling sad and missing her Daddy.
I asked her why she was crying, she only managed to mutter "Daddy is working" in between sobs and "I wanna go to the washroom".
All the way to the bathroom and while she was on the toilet bowl, she was still sobbing.
I tried to calm her down and she suddenly said "Done Ummi" and gestured me to clean her up.
Once she had her diapers on, she walked back to the sofa and watched TV quietly.
She was still sobbing once in awhile.
I quickly sent a Whatsapp to hubby, asking if he was free for lunch.
He replied with "Free between 12.30 to 1.30"
So I sat next to our toddler the entire time, accompanying her and talking to her until it was time to get ready for our lunch date with Daddy.
When I told her that we would be seeing Daddy, she quickly said "Ok" and started laughing yet looked like she was about to cry too.
We were in the car when I buckled her up and she said "I can't wait to see Daddy".
I replied with "Ummi can't wait to see Daddy too".
She responded with "Everybody can't wait to see Daddy".
We reached the car park, parked our car and walked to the place where we had agreed to meet up.
She was so excited to see Daddy and quickly sat down on the chair next to him.
We had our lunch, talked and time flew by so fast that it was time for Daddy to get back to work.
Daddy sent us to our car, drove to his office's main entrance where we dropped him off and he said goodbye to us.
At this point, our toddler was at the verge of tears.
She managed to wave goodbye to Daddy and when we drove away, she started sobbing, tears streaming down her face.
I had to tell her so many times that Daddy will come back but that didn't seem to help.
Upon reaching home, we sat on the sofa and she calmed down slightly when she requested me to open a bar of chocolate.
She started sobbing when she finished the chocolate so I asked her to drink her water and took her for a nap.
She said "I'm not crying anymore Ummi" whilst she sobbed and sobbed and sobbed.
Oh my goodness, she started sobbing uncontrollably even while I bf her!
I asked her what was wrong and she kept repeating, "Daddy is working"
Each time I said "Yes, Daddy will come back", she kept sobbing.
I got worried, texted hubby if he was free to talk.
He said that he was in a meeting.
I just held our toddler whilst she continued sobbing and crying.
It felt like an eternity when hubby finally called.
We spoke on Facetime and he tried to cheer her up. She finally managed to laugh until it was time for Daddy to hang up.
OMG, she started tearing up again, suppressing her tears though.
She cried again after so we didn't manage to get a nap.
She wanted to watch TV so we left the bedroom and sat down in front of the sofa.
I believe she fell asleep and was sobbing in her sleep.
This is the first time ever that our toddler is crying like this. Never happened before so I'm quite puzzled.
Or perhaps she REALLY misses her Daddy since he was with us throughout the 2-week leave.
She didn't throw any tantrums, she was just crying and sobbing most of the time.
We're now waiting for Daddy to come home.
She just woke up and quickly said "Have to wait for Daddy, Ummi" and started sobbing.
Oh ... I can feel her sadness. :(
