JKids @ Publika

Hubby and I decided to check out the kids gym, JKids at Publika, last Saturday.

Went in the morning and we managed to secure a parking spot right in front of the mall's entrance.

As it was quite early in the morning, there was possibly one family in JKids and they were setting up the party area with deco, cutleries and gift packs.

Their 2 kids were already playing at the play area.

What we didn't like about JKids @ Publika:

The area was SMALL and they crammed everything into such a small space!

We noticed an unpleasant smell the moment we walked in, not sure if it was because of us standing next to the shoe cabinet or the fact that there were food prepared for the birthday party.

Not long after, another family came in to set up their deco at the SECOND party area. The next thing you know, TONS of kids came rolling in and started playing in the already crammed space. Kids were seen running around and bumping into each other.

Both party areas were not cordoned off so our daughter kept walking in, mesmerized by the colorful decoration and funky knick knacks set on the table.

We were there for only an hour or so as more bigger kids came in, ran around and had no disregard for the smaller ones.

*Sigh* what a waste of our RM 30 ...

Nope, we're not going back ... ever.

Kizsports Gym @ Bangsar Village 2

I must say that this place is WAY cooler than the outlet in Great Eastern (GE) Mall!

Trust me, I did break out a sweat as I had to follow my daughter around.

You don't need to go to the gym, you'll be able to work out here! :)

She did not want to go up onto the play area by herself (it is quite dark, though) so understandably, it may be a bit daunting for her.

There were so many tunnels and very challenging ramps to go through!

As there weren't that many kids around, she was able to take her own sweet time in climbing up and sliding down the slides.

I also like it here because they have one lady who looks after the play area, the kids and takes the time to chat with the parents.

She can be seen walking around the play area (no mobile phone in hand) and makes the effort to get to know the kids, play with them and talk to them.

She does her job pretty well and she's probably in her 40s, having had worked with Kizsports for 10 years or so.

This is such a different scenario in comparison to the younger staff who are in their 20s in Great Eastern Mall.

You would possibly see them hiding behind the play area where no one could see them except for the kids, they are constantly on their mobile phones and couldn't even be bothered with the kids.

I would understand if they are on their break but if they ARE taking a break, they wouldn't spend it in the play area, right?

Hence, the reason why I would look after my own child and follow her around ... climbing ramps and going down slides.

Well, that's just me I guess coz if you're responsible to look after the play area and the kids (maybe not chase them around but perhaps monitor them), then you should do so just to make sure the kids aren't in danger or possibly be on the lookout for any parts / sections of the play area which may potentially pose a threat to the child.

Children aren't capable to assess dangers, adults are.

If Kizsports wants parents to fully be responsible for their child at all times in the play area, they don't have to station any staff within the play area.

Entrance fee:
RM 12 (weekdays for kids below 2yo)
RM 28 (weekdays for kids aged 2 yo and above)

Parking fee:
RM 7.50
*I was at the mall from 10.30am to 3.30pm. We managed to park at B1.

Facilities:
Similar to the one in GE Mall - baby changing area, nursing area, toilets and a seating area with tables / chairs (they only sell drinks)

View from the play area

An overview of the play area.

Beyond the set of tables & chairs, you can see that a class is in session.

One of the entrances leading up to the play area.

Another entrance leading up to the play area which is more challenging.

Spiral Tuna Aglio Olio

Lazy day, so I prepared Spiral Tuna Aglio Olio for lunch.

Luckily, I learnt this from Mr Hubby as he's a better cook than I am!

Ingredients:

1 can of chilli tuna - Choose "Light" if you do not like yours too spicy

Garlic - 6 cloves, finely chopped or sliced (you may adjust to your liking)

*Spiral pasta

* You can also use spaghetti / angel hair / vermicelli

Olive oil

Salt & Pepper

Optional (Spices)

Method:

1. Prep your pasta after cooking it in boiled water and placing it under running water. In a big bowl, pour in your pasta and lightly coat it with olive oil, a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix them evenly. Optional (you may also add in all the spices listed above).

2. Pour a tablespoon of olive oil into a pan and fry your garlic until they are slightly brown.

3. Add in your pasta and finally the chilli tuna.

4. After you have distributed the tuna evenly in the pan, it's done!

Wonder Park @ Jusco AU2 (Setiawangsa)

Before we discovered KidZoona, we went to Wonder Park, located on the first floor.

I paid RM 11 when I was there from 11.30am - 01.00pm and trust me, the moment I forked out the cash it was soooo not worth it!

The park is poorly maintained (extremely bad) and they even use duck tape to secure certain sections which are already worn off.

I wonder what they do with the entrance fee paid by customers?

I, for one, am NOT going back to Wonder Park ... at all!

KidZoona @ Jusco AU2 (Setiawangsa)

We headed to Jusco AU2 on a Monday morning and was surprised to find that the play area, KidZoona, was super duper cheap!

Get this, RM 5 per entry (weekdays) and RM 10 per entry (weekends)!

Huge play area with tons of things to choose from!

It is also just next to a washroom so it's convenient for moms & dads to make a quick dash whilst kids are occupied in the play area.

And the parking was RM 1.

If you are on a budget or you need to keep your kids occupied whilst you complete your shopping spree, this is THE place to be!

Kizsports Gym @ Great Eastern Mall

Off we went to GE Mall on a Thursday morning at 10.30am after much coaxing of Lil' Rainbow to shower AND finish her breakfast.

First, she didn't want to take her shower and I had to literally chase her around the house as she keeps running off (a game which she clearly enjoys).

Once inside, she didn't want to come out!

Morning traffic was OK though once we reached GE, security guards were at the entrance, telling people that the parking was full.

Oh no! So I drove around the block and decided to wait it out.

By this time, Lil' Rainbow was already asleep in her car seat, oh well.

I waited for a good 15 minutes whilst browsing the Internet on my mobile to search for alternative places.

My female intuition told me to go back to GE and try again, maybe ... just maybe ... parking is available.

Driving up to GE, I noticed that the guards were gone and cars entered without being stopped so I knew there were ample parking available.

However, I had to drive all the way down to P4.

As if on cue, Lil' Rainbow woke up and we headed to the gym:

Fee - RM12 per entry (socks required)

Not many kids were around, which is good.

Only thing was, my daughter was more keen to play with the boys. (sigh)

She was chasing one boy wearing a pirate hat.

He was kind enough to share his hat, though when he handed the hat over to her, she ran off.

She joined two boys who were playing with their toy cars.

Initially, one of them didn't want her to join so I pulled her away before she was squashed by him.

The next minute, this same boy approached her and sat next to her whereas the other boy joined them not long after.

Another 2 boys were playing with colorful balls from the ball pit and were setting up a fort or some kind of their own.

She happily helped them to build the fort and they kept thanking her each time she handed them the ball.

Did I also mention that I had to climb the play area with her as she seemed quite bored with the entire setup?

I was on my knees, the entire time, going through the obstacles and leading the way.

Yes, my back ached that night ...

A totally different reaction when she was at the play gym in Ikano Power Centre!

The games / rides were more interactive eg: floating balloons, moving rides, cannon balls, so for her to go to Kizsports was kinda like a downgrade ...

A glimpse of the play area in Ikano Power Centre

Too bad it was quite a distance for me to travel to IPC if I were on my own, taking into consideration the travel time and praying times.

GE is closer to home in comparison.

Different story if we stayed somewhere near Damansara.

By 1pm, Lil' Rainbow said "Ummi, mamam" so we headed to the food counter:

Most of the items were priced at RM5.50 eg: nuggets (6 pieces), fries.

Bolognese pasta was priced around RM10 and they do offer value meals at RM10 as well.

One thing which I LOVE about GE is the cheap parking rate!

Parking - RM3

At 3pm, we headed home as I needed to rush for my prayers.

A car was blocking mine in the basement so I had to call the number placed on the windshield.

Luckily, the lady didn't take quite long to come down and she even apologized.

I said "No worries" as she had the courtesy to do so.

Lil' Rainbow slept off in the car within 5 minutes ...

Lil' Rainbow at 21-months-old

Highlights ...

Ensures items taken out / unpacked are re-organized eg: push back chairs under the dining table and does a check to ensure all chairs are aligned, cash / cards are placed back into the wallet after she had them taken out, if she sees a mess on the table / floor she will walk into the kitchen to fetch a cloth and wipe off the smear.

Helps Daddy with baking where she grabs the kitchen towel on her own, brings it to the bowl to cover the dough.

Gives Ummi a kiss when ... I'm reading / fiddling with my mobile / performing my prayers while seated.

Is fond of noodles, bagels, chocolate cake, chicken soup and rice.

Proud to say that she still breastfeeds. Is smart enough to ask for milk bottles during the day as she will only be able to enjoy breastmilk if she finishes her formula. She drinks 180ml formula per day on top of breastmilk. One of our ways to wean her when she turns 2yo.
