Bin Nurdin @ Seksyen 15, Shah Alam

Assalamualaikum ...

Dah lama sebenarnya Mr Hubs ajak singgah kedai Bin Nurdin di Shah Alam ni ...

TAPI ...

Sebab Shah Alam tu agak jauh dari KL (ok, itu bagi saya je lah kan, orang lain cam rilek je ulang-alik KL-Shah Alam tiap2 hari gi kerja, takde hal) maka asyik tertangguh je lah perancangan ni.

Ada satu hari tu, Mr Hubs kebetulan cuti, terus ajak pergi Shah Alam dan sebab nak amik hati isteri (hehehehe) Mr Hubs cakap nak belanja makan kat satu cafe' baru di Shah Alam.

Ok gak tu kan ... ;)

Lepas makan minum bagai kat cafe' tu, barulah kitorang gerak ke Bin Nurdin.

Sesiapa yang tak berapa tau jalan / bulatan-bulatan yang begitu banyak di Shah Alam tu ... haaaa eloklah pakai GPS kalau tak nak sesat!

Teringat kat member share benda ni di FB ... G.P.S = Guna Pun Sesat!

Hahahahaha ... betul tu ... sebab GPS pun pening dengan jalan2 kat Malaysia ni yang asyik berubah-ubah setiap masa!

Kebetulan masa nak sampai kedai tu, hujan pulak, tapi Alhamdulillah, dapat parking betul2 depan kedai.

Jangan risau pasal parking kat kawasan ni, banyak sangat sebab banyak kedai belum ada penyewa lagi.

Kedai ni amik 3-tingkat semuanya

Kebetulan ada "SALE" masa kitorang pergi tu

Perasaan masa masuk kedai tu ...

Haaa...posing sakan budak kecik depan cermin ... aih!

Yang paling best, pekerja2 kat situ rata2 memang suka dengan budak2, jadi diaorang pun rajinlah layan budak kecik lari ke hulu ke hilir dalam kedai ... sampai Ummi pun kena kejar dia sekali, nak pastikan dia tak langgar / jatuhkan barang2 berharga ... kalau tak, nangis Daddy dengan Ummi nak kira ganti rugi kan huhuhuhu

Sementara tunggu Daddy, Ummi pun bawak budak kecik lepak baca buku kejap kat sini ...

Bahagian kanak2

Alhamdulillah ... memang sedap!

:D

Food Foundry @ Seksyen 17

Since hubby & I visited Butter & Beans recently, it wasn't that difficult to locate Food Foundry (thank God!).

The guy in the black T-shirt looks like he's looking for someone

The guy in the black T-shirt, again, probably wanting to check out the cake selection at the other end of the cafe

It was around 10.30am when we reached and I immediately walked into their area which had cakes on display (heard that their cakes are good!)

There were already other patrons seated in the cafe, chatting away.

I walked to their corner-lot shop to get a slice of cake, unfortunately, the guy behind the counter wasn't too alert / prepared when I walked up to him and gave me that "what-do-you-want" look with no smile whatsoever.

At this point, I told myself "Ok, maybe it's too early in the morning for him."

Anyway, when I browsed through the selection of cakes available ... I was truly spoilt for choice!

However, since hubby had been bringing me out for breakfast quite often on his off days instead of lazing in bed, I picked their Butterscotch Walnut Cake.

If it were to be me, it would be chocolate ... anytime!

The cake was soooo delicious that hubby only managed to take a picture of the last piece !!!

I'm glad that hubby really enjoyed his slice of cake.

The perfectly coated butterscotch cream topped with small chunks of walnut balanced the taste of the cream and the 3-layer sponge cake.

A well-balanced taste, not too overwhelming nor too sweet, just nice.

Whilst we were enjoying our slice of cake, we waited (for awhile) to see the menu and had to call one of the servers.

This time around, the guy had an even gloomier face than the other one and the way he spoke to us was as if he was wanting to rush us off ... read: purely not interested!

We managed to compose ourselves and placed our orders ... he repeated our orders hastily and left the table in a hurry.

Not long after, he came back to tell us that the kitchen was only opened at 11am.

We checked for the time and it was around 10.50am.

Hubby told him nicely, "That's ok, you can take our orders first and we'll wait for the kitchen to open at 11am where they can prepare it by then."

The guy just nodded and walked off.

The wait, for my coffee, took awhile ... not sure if coffee was only served at 11am as well?

Latte

The glum-faced waiter delivered my burger and plopped the plate in front of me with his left hand and walked off.

I could feel my face tense up since it did seem a bit rude if he served customers like that!

Their Foundry Burger
Anyway, not wanting to let it affect my mood, I started on my burger.

Verdict: good attempt on the beef patty, though it was slightly dry.

Hubby had the spicy pasta which was too spicy for him.

This was when I started to form a conspiracy theory, "Maybe they didn't like us since we came half an hour before 11am and perhaps was intruding their space in any way?"

Ok, maybe I AM thinking too much.

I believe that it just wasn't our lucky day.

Service was extremely poor ... trust me, the local mamak shop is 10-times better in terms of customer service!

However, there was a consistent flow of customers walking into the cafe so I guess they're there for the cakes & food, not so for the service.

Hubby and I decided that this would be our first ... and last visit, unfortunately.

It's such a shame as the cakes are really awesome!

Maybe we would need to find an appropriate time to buy cakes so as not to upset the team at Food Foundry ... making sure that they are in a much better mood.

Butter & Beans @ Seksyen 17, PJ

We woke up super early one weekend to visit a cafe in Seksyen 17, PJ.

As it was our first time, we loaded the map to our trusty GPS ... assuring ourselves that it would be a piece of cake to locate the cafe.

Of course, as we drove past Eastin Hotel, PJ, and drove further up to look for Seksyen 17, it didn't look like we were reaching the cafe as we ended up in a residential neighborhood with rows of linked houses and at one point, flats.

I guess we expected to see rows of shophouses which would definitely make the search easier.

We had to make a U-turn somewhere as the GPS instructed us to do so.

Apparently, as we drove past some flats, we were supposed to make a turn into one of the compounds to reach our destination.

I was on the look-out for the cafe and was glad to see the cafe's blinds from the roadside.

The location, for me, was not somewhere I had expected but I thought that it was super cool to have a cafe right beneath your flat :)

What I liked about the surrounding area was that it was clean and it looked well-maintained, as opposed to the normal flats you could find in KL where it is smelly and rubbish is strewn EVERYWHERE, not to mention clogged drains!

As we arrived, we noticed that there was AMPLE parking despite it being a parking lot for residents of the flats (hence, I wonder where do the residents park?)

I wonder if they dropped their "&" here and replaced it with "+" on their blinds? :D

Despite the huge sign, there were still patrons who PUSHED the door when they attempted to enter the cafe

Cool setup ... ashtray, anyone? :)

Creative!

The cafe is suitable for small crowds / if you're just here to enjoy a cuppa on your own / if you would like to have coffee & pastries on the go.

The setting isn't really suitable for big crowds, unless you combine all the tables outside of the cafe.

Once inside, you'll notice that the pathway is quite narrow between the counter and the wall.

You could either sit at the counter or by the window.

Self-service, place your order here

The selection of cakes & pastries

The counter for you to collect your sugar / plain water

Freshly baked bread ... the cheapest is RM 8 per loaf ... NICE !!!

This small cafe serves good coffee, scrumptious cakes & pastries at a super affordable price!

To top it off, their baristas are super friendly and always smiling :)

My flat white ... of course, my 2-yo toddler was SUPER excited to see the coffee art!!!!

Pick your choice of drink from this friendly bear :)

Do drop by if you're wanting to grab coffee / cakes / pastries / even a loaf of bread.

Or if you plan to read your book or even surf the Net.

Butter & Beans is your friendly neighborhood cafe :)
